Qur'an

"The perfect speaker is like one ... whose table is filled with every kind of food, so that no guest remains without provisions, [but] each one gets his nourishment separately. [Such a speaker is] like the Quran which is sevenfold in meaning, and in which there is food for the sage and for the simpleton”

The Quran has provided nourishment for people of every kind, "The stupid as well as the intelligent... No book... is ever written ‘for everyone’, but this is precisely the function of a revealed scripture, and for this reason it cannot be read in the ways that works of human origin are read" [Source: Islam and the Destiny of Man, page 77]

"The language of the Quran is inwardly addressed to the human soul.  The "idolaters" (those who idolise false gods), "hypocrites" and "disbelievers" are not simply people in the past but forces within us. Likewise, the Prophets represent our true nature and the Kaaba is our heart (the sacred territory which must be reclaimed through spiritual warfare)." - Anonymous
